The International Psychology Association of Canada (IPAC) is a federally registered non-profit organization established in 2020. IPAC is dedicated to promoting mental wellbeing through public education and community-based initiatives that are culturally informed and accessible to diverse populations. Rooted in Chinese culture and heritage, IPAC seeks to foster greater understanding, awareness, and appreciation of mental health across multicultural communities.
Our Mission
IPAC’s mission is to promote mental wellbeing through education and public-interest initiatives that encourage awareness, dialogue, and engagement around mental health among diverse populations. Drawing inspiration from Chinese culture and heritage, IPAC delivers culturally grounded talks, workshops, and community events that create inclusive spaces for reflection, connection, and learning.
While IPAC does not provide direct psychotherapy or clinical treatment, we focus on building bridges between mental health knowledge and community life by offering accessible, non-clinical opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds to engage with mental wellbeing in meaningful and culturally resonant ways.
IPAC’s programs address a wide range of themes, including emotional regulation, self-care, and cultural connection, and are designed to support diverse groups within the community—such as international students, newcomers, and older adults.
OUR CORE OBJECTIVES
1. Mental Health Awareness and Education
To provide accessible mental health education that enhances public awareness and understanding of mental wellbeing. IPAC works to reduce stigma and misconceptions surrounding mental health and to promote informed conversations within Chinese communities.
2. Supporting Adjustment to New Environments
To support newcomers and international students in navigating cultural transitions, building community networks, and reducing feelings of isolation and adjustment-related stress. IPAC offers psychosocial support to facilitate healthy emotional and cultural adaptation.
3. Community-Based Mental Wellbeing Support
Through collaboration with qualified mental health professionals, IPAC provides group-based mental wellbeing support for Chinese communities. The organization also works with partner institutions, such as long-term care facilities, to support the emotional wellbeing of older adults.
4. Community Programs and Public Talks
To regularly host mental health talks, interactive workshops, and community activities focused on topics such as emotional awareness, stress management, and self-reflection. These initiatives aim to strengthen mental health literacy and community engagement.
5. Building Cultural Belonging and Connection
IPAC’s mission is to promote mental wellbeing by using culture as a bridge to connection and inclusion. Through culturally grounded celebrations, public education, and community-based initiatives, we create welcoming spaces where people from diverse backgrounds can come together, build understanding, and engage in meaningful conversations around mental health.
OUR VISION
IPAC envisions inclusive, resilient communities where mental wellbeing is nurtured through connection, cultural understanding, and shared experiences. By using culture—particularly Chinese culture and heritage—as a bridge, we aim to foster belonging, mutual respect, and holistic wellbeing among people from diverse backgrounds.
