Celebrating Culture, Strengthening Chinese Community
Since 2025, IPAC has partnered with Chinese community organizations, senior centres, youth groups, and cultural associations across York Region to deliver a series of cultural celebration programs that integrate mental wellbeing with traditional Chinese culture. Centered around Chinese seasonal observances and festivals—such as Chinese New Year, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival—the program offers monthly themed experiences, including traditional crafts, cultural cuisine, festive performances, cultural talks, intergenerational activities, and mental wellbeing roundtable discussions.
The program serves diverse community groups, including seniors, newcomers, youth, and families, and aims to create a warm, inclusive, and connected community environment. Through cultural engagement and group-based interaction, these activities help reduce feelings of loneliness and anxiety, promote intergenerational communication, and strengthen cultural belonging and psychological resilience.
IPAC’s collaborating mental health professionals and cultural practitioners work together to create a supportive, safe, and meaningful public space, where individuals of different ages and backgrounds can find shared understanding and connection through traditional culture.
