| Program Overview

The new school term has been underway for some time, and many parents are beginning to notice that challenges seem to have surfaced all at once:

  • Screen time feels out of control, with children staying up late gaming

  • Chronic lateness to school has become routine

  • Homework is constantly delayed, often accompanied by excuses

  • Some children begin missing school only days after the term starts

  • Schools send frequent emails requesting feedback, leaving parents overwhelmed

Faced with these situations, many parents feel anxious, helpless, and exhausted.

You are not alone.
The International Psychology Association of Canada (IPAC) is launching a new in-person parenting psychoeducation workshop, designed specifically for parents. This program aims to help you respond to your child’s challenges using evidence-based psychological approaches, while also supporting your own emotional wellbeing.

| Program Highlights

Addressing common parenting challenges
Explore core difficulties in parent–child relationships, including excessive gaming, procrastination, school avoidance, and sleep habits—while understanding the psychological roots behind these behaviors.

Practical psychology-based strategies
Learn effective tools to support your child in developing self-regulation, confidence, and focus.

Professional guidance from experienced specialists
The workshop is facilitated by Rene, a senior parenting education specialist and counsellor invited by IPAC, who brings extensive experience in education and clinical practice to provide tailored insights for families.

Interactive discussion and peer support
Share experiences with other parents, exchange perspectives, and build a supportive network—so you no longer have to navigate these challenges alone.

| Program Goals

IPAC is committed to strengthening the mental wellbeing and educational resilience of Chinese families in Canada. Through this program, we aim to help parents:

  • Reduce personal stress and anxiety, and develop healthier self-regulation skills

  • Improve understanding of children’s behaviors and emotional needs

  • Identify parenting approaches that align with each child’s unique development
