On June 21, 2026, we gathered at the Activae Center in the City of Markham for a Dragon Boat Festival afternoon filled with the aroma of zongzi, the elegance of traditional music, and joyful laughter. With 15+ booths and hundreds of smiling faces, this Oriental aesthetics–inspired cultural fair in Markham came to a successful close.
On the day of the event, we were honoured to welcome the presence and support of several distinguished guests:
- Mayor of Markham, Frank Scarpitti
- Richmond Hill Councillor, Simon Cui
- Representative from the Office of Member of Parliament Vincent Ho
The three distinguished guests brought remarks and congratulatory letters to IPAC.
In his remarks, the Mayor emphasized the importance of mental health in community development and recognized the positive impact of this event in bringing community members together, promoting cultural exchange, and strengthening community connections.
Mayor Frank Scarpitti and Simon Cui also delivered wonderful karaoke performances on site.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all councillors, mayors, and deputy mayors — both those who attended in person and those who sent their support from afar — for their attention, encouragement, and warm wishes for our Dragon Boat Festival Cultural Fair.
We were honoured to receive the following recognitions and greeting letters:
Markham Mayor’s Certificate
Markham Deputy Mayor’s Greeting Letter
Richmond Hill Mayor’s Greeting Letter
MP Vincent Ho’s Greeting Letter
Richmond Hill Councillor Simon Cui’s Greeting Letter
MP Vincent Ho’s Certificate

Each of the 15+ booths carried its own unique story. From health-focused booths featuring a dental clinic, youth mental health initiatives, and mental health organizations, to intangible cultural heritage crafts such as Wamao clay cats, incense art, tea ceremony, and traditional Chinese-style decorations; from creative handmade goods including 3D-printed ornaments and natural essential oils, to festive Dragon Boat Festival activities such as “Shoot the Five Poisons,” Pitch-pot, and our charity sale of lion dance lanterns — every booth was filled with curiosity, enthusiasm, and joy.
The lacquer fan and dragon boat craft experience areas were especially popular, drawing enthusiastic participants of all ages. Guests had the chance to create with their own hands and bring home one-of-a-kind Dragon Boat Festival memories.

After the remarks, Mayor Frank Scarpitti visited and interacted with the booths on site. Many booth vendors and families came forward to take photos with him, capturing memorable Dragon Boat Festival moments together.

The event was filled with vibrant activities and festive energy. The traditional-style mini fair created an elegant cultural atmosphere that drew many guests to stop and explore. Cotton candy, popcorn, face painting, and bubble tea booths were also among the crowd favourites.
Guests actively participated in the activities, enjoyed the festive spirit, and then visited the prize redemption area to exchange their tokens for their favourite gifts.

We would also like to thank our emcees, Shawn and Daisy, for hosting the event together.
On stage, two guqin artists from Shangshan Xiaozhu presented a beautiful performance of traditional melodies. The elegant and lingering sound of the guqin brought a sense of calm, grace, and Zen-inspired tranquility to the event.
During one of the guqin pieces, a floral artist from Angel Daisy Society presented a live improvised flower arrangement performance. As the music and floral artistry intertwined, the audience was treated to an elegant experience of traditional aesthetics.
In addition, the Domimi Band performed a selection of traditional songs. Their bright and lively melodies added a joyful and festive atmosphere to the cultural fair.

During the performance, guests were invited to come on stage for a group photo with the Mayor, capturing a memorable moment of celebration together.
